🐋🩵About your guide and organizer: Darby is a mermaid, water woman and midwife. She has been a lover of the ocean and a strong swimmer her whole life. Some of her earliest memories involve exploring the beach, and holding her breath to swim as a young child. She has been in the ocean connecting with the cetaceans, the whales and dolphins, and the sharks, manta rays and many other ocean creatures, swimming, snorkeling, freediving, and scuba diving for over 20 years and especially since her arrival to live on the island of Hawai’i 11 years ago. Darby organized and led Whale Boat Journeys in Kona, Hawai’i for eight years. When she is in the water with the humpback whales, she feels as though she has truly come home. She feels like she is connected once again to our ancient Lemurian home. In the Autumn of 2023 she was very blessed to experience a solo journey to Mo’orea where she delighted in precious whale connections. Darby is an experienced licensed midwife, holistic women’s healthcare practitioner and practicing herbalist. She specializes in waterbirth and dolphin assisted birth. Darby is excited and honored to midwife you into the rare and amazing experience of heart to heart, eye to eye, close encounters with the humpback whales.
🐋🩵About your chef: Terry is on a mission to provide vibrant, tasty, nourishing meals for people enjoying retreats. Love and joy are key components in his alchemy of fresh and local ingredients to create a soul-satisfying culinary experience for you! Terry is an accomplished chef and he enriches the groups he serves with his bright smile, warm heart and wisdom. He is also passionate about travel, meditation, permaculture, nutrition and herbalism.
🐋🩵About your captain: Captain Arii is Tahitian, born in Mo’orea. He studied in the merchant navy starting in 1991, at age 17. He commanded his first ferry at the age of 23. Then he was an officer on board a cruise ship until 2005. It was on board that he met Professor Micheal Pool, a specialist in marine mammals in Polynesia. He then joined his team in 2006, studying Polynesian cetaceans. Arii started his own whale watching company 7 years ago. His bear hugs, loving smile and respect for the whales caught Darby’s heart and we are grateful to be on board with him during this journey!
🐋🩵About your whale swim guide and assistant to the Captain: Abiola was born in Germany of German and Nigerian descent. She is a yogini, medicine woman, spiritual dancer, Shakti Dance lead teacher trainer, yoga teacher, aquatic whale guide, dream worker, veterinarian, animal osteopath and craniosacral therapist. She has lived in Mo’orea for 2 years and immerses herself in the ocean, swimming with whales and dolphins, learning from the sea to explore and nurture new forms of multidimensional healing. The first time Darby heard Abiola’s voice she was in love, and when communing in the water with the whales with her, Darby knew she wanted to return to that sacred other-worldly place with her once again.
We are so very excited and grateful for this marvelous adventure and opportunity with you!
